Enjoy the eating experiences of the Mayeu family. We could be categorized as foodie folk as we enjoy great food, make amazing meals and we love to entertain. This blog will contain both creations from our kitchen and patio and others from restaurants, both local and afar while we travel. We hope the #mayemeals are as pleasing to the eye as it is our bellies.

Last week I had the delight of spending the day with the crew at The Chef's Plate while they filmed their latest episode. The Chef's Plate is a weekly half-hour show that features local restaurants, chefs, bakeries, as well as food and drink related businesses from all over New England. It airs on Saturday afternoons on WBIN-TV to households throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine.

The Republic Cafe (Manchester, NH)
The Republic Cafe's Egg Soufle with Pesto and Pomodoro plus a side of dressed greens.
|
What a delightful surprise this was. The soufle was light and rich, but not over the top. The pesto was flavorful and perfectly matched with the tomatoes and cheese. The field greens were splashed with just enough dressing to give some flavor without diminishing the freshness of the vegetables. Couple it with a coffee or double shot of espresso and you have yourself a great little brunch.

Dogs and Fries – The Mayeu's House
Hot dogs, French fries, peas and lime-basil seltzer cause dinner was short on time tonight. |
Sometimes hot dogs, in this case the infamous Zweigles Pop-Open's of Rochester, NY, and french fries just hit the spot. Coupled with a simple Lime and Basil seltzer it'd make for a perfectly quick barbecue with the kids or neighbors.

Bedford Village Inn (Bedford, NH)
Easter brunch at Bedford Village Inn (Bedford, NH). |
The family enjoyed a great brunch at the Bedford Village Inn before heading to church at noon. It included everything from carved ham, to cook to order omellete's, fresh belgian waffles, crepes and a ton of other options. The above image is how I ended my brunch, it was all very tasty.

Republic Cafe (Manchester, NH)
Lamb sausage omelette, home fries and espresso at the Republic Cafe |
The lamb in this omelette had just the right spice and went very well with the roasted red peppers. The egg was light and fluffy and formed the perfect casing for the filling. The potatoes, a wee bit over salted, were a good mix with the omelette while the peppers and onions added to the overall appeal. I could've eaten 2 or 3 of these given the taste of that ground lamb concoction.
